01Tamil Nadu reverses RTI shield for law-and-order wing
The state withdrew a September 21 order that would have exempted its law-and-order department from the Right to Information Act. Opposition parties and even allies warned it would hide records about police action and custodial deaths.
The Centre extended disturbed-area declarations for six months from October 1 in specified areas of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. In Manipur, areas under 13 police stations are excluded.
A legislative committee reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir flagged weak monitoring, a contested pipe-material switch and the sidelining of panchayats. It examined tenders, project reports and departmental records.
01Sarvesh Kushare ends a 56-year high-jump medal wait
Kushare cleared 2.25 metres for silver at the Asian Games. A miss at that height cost him gold on countback, but India had not won a men’s high-jump medal at the Games since 1970.
Eighteen-year-old Anahat Singh lost the women’s singles final in straight games to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam. She became the first Indian woman to win singles silver at the Asian Games.
Abhay Singh lost 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 to Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng in the men’s squash final. He is only the second Indian to take singles silver at the Asian Games, after Saurav Ghosal.
The Reserve Bank of India bought a net $18.65 billion in July, a record, compared with $561 million in June. Foreign-currency deposit swap windows helped supply dollars; its net short forward position also rose to $136.77 billion.

02Brahma AI raises $150 million at $2 billion value
Prime Focus-backed Brahma AI raised a reported $150 million round led by Multiples. The company plans to spend on interactive digital humans, product development and US expansion.
WOI India acquired SwiftSeed Ventures and named its founder Amar Dixit chief executive. SwiftSeed will continue under WOI India; the transaction price was not disclosed.
